David Stedman | Coastalwatch Plus Member Of The Month - February 2014

Name: David Stedman

Occupation: Art Director

Age: 34

What part of the coast do you call home? Currently live in the Northern Beaches, Sydney. Grew up on the Mid North Coast.

Tell us a bit about the surf around there? It’s Sydney… crowded but it has its moments. Mid North Coast is great… some hidden gems if you look hard enough.

How long have you been surfing? 20 years

What was your last session like? Last session was a small wave at manly… can’t say it was one I would normally write about.

Where else has your surfing taken you? I have traveled most of the east coast of Australia and to Tasmania with nothing but some board shorts in Autumn…  had some waves in France and getting ready for a trip to Samoa

Best swell you’ve ever seen/ridden? I am not sure if the waves were the best I have seen but the adventure made it worth it. My girlfriend (now wife) and a good friend and I got lost in France looking for some waves. We stumbled across some cars park behind some dunes, after a long walk over the dunes not knowing if we were even near a beach, we found four foot wedge “A ”frames  (like France has) with no one out.

Dream destination? I will let you know after Samoa, but as long as there are no crowds… I think I would be happy

When did you first pick up a camera? Played with a Camera all through school, but then put it down for a while. We had a little boy only 20 months ago so I used this as an excuse to get a digital SLR.

When did you sign up as a Coastalwatch Plus member? Right at the beginning, always been keen on weather and waves.

What features have you found helpful? The simplicity of the charts/navigation, a couple of clicks and I know what spots I should be hitting

Congrats to David Stedman, our Feb Member Of The Month. David uploaded some great shots of an early session and just for doing that we sent him a Surfing 2013 1oz Silver Proof $1 coin thanks to the Perth Mint as part of the Land Down Under Series

For your chance to win a major prize, head to the User Photos and start sharing.
