  • Southwest Oz Regional Morning Report (Sunday): Another beautiful spring morning with the clear skies and offshore wind, though SW swell has dropped off overnight and getting smaller today. Some sets leftover and fun open faces on the exposed breaks and overall good conditions but weaker. Easterly winds are cleaning and grooming out conditions but expect wave heights to back down through the day. Tide is dropping from a high after midnight to a 3 pm low this afternoon. Clear skies and fair weather just adding to it.

Rest of Day Outlook: A SW swell is dropping off this morning and will lead to progressively smaller surf. Some fun range sets rolling through off the leftover swell for the more exposed option, so it's still very surfable on the open breaks, just comparatively smaller than we had through the week and sheltered areas are now struggling to pull in wave heights. This leaves us with a settled and more organized run of waves for the beachies capturing the last leg of SW energy before it drops to minimal conditions for Sunday.  Favorable winds early, tending ESE around 10kt, then will turn calm before the sea breeze comes in, but forecasted light, later in the afternoon. Tide is dropping to a 3 pm low this afternoon, may make the wave shape a bit more drained and sectioney with the afternoon low tide.

For some the modern short board will never make sense. To me there are elements of the past that are still viable today, when blended with all we have learnt in the past.
